Apple is expected to have multiple devices in the foldable form for the market but you will have to wait for a few more years.
Apple is yet to enter the foldable segment but the next few years will probably show us what the company has been cooking behind the scenes. While Apple is slowly working towards its AI focus in 2025, the year after that could see its foldable breakthrough. New report from WSJ talks about a brand new form factor and a foldable iPhone in the plans that will be coming out in the next three to four years.
Apple’s Big Foldable Launch: What It Plans And When
The WSJ report cites sources who claim the first Apple foldable will be in the iPhone mould but with a larger display than the iPhone 16 Pro Max that will be launching in 2026. It is fascinating to hear these details, especially for a company that has usually stayed true to its origins. The foldable is a new landscape for all the brands and a fresh start could be the right way to go about it.
And if you thought that was crazy enough, Apple has something much bigger planned with its next foldable product. The same report talks about a gigantic iPad-Mac fusion device with a 19-inch display when you unfold it. Apple intends to launch one of them in 2026 but the iPad foldable might take a few more years, so probably around 2028.
Either way, it is high time that Apple shows its ambitions and enters a segment that most of its rivals, including Google have entered. The company is already planning for a big overhaul in 2025 with the rumoured iPhone 17 Air in the works, but all eyes are waiting to see the iPhone SE 4 model that could be its most easiest and affordable route to AI for the consumers.
