After a long Test season for team India, the focus now shifts to limited-overs cricket as the Men in Blue are all set to lock horns against England in a five-match T20I series beginning from January 22. Captain Suryakumar Yadav is all-ready with his troops as they prepare themselves to take on the most fearsome T20I teams of modern-day cricket.
India has had a long successful run in the shortest format since August 2023 as they won eight out of the nine series and drew one. The Asian Giants are undergoing a transition following the retirement of senior pros Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli after their T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. However, the youngsters have taken the responsibilities head on with their belligerent batting style as they’ve crossed the 200-run mark seven times out of 11 while batting first.
The team will look to continue their fearless batting style against England and show why they are current World Champions of the format. On the other hand, England will start a new era under Brendon McCullum, who has been appointed the head coach of the limited overs side as well, after taking over the responsibility of the Test team in 2022. The Jos Buttler-led side hasn’t had a good run in the shortest format since March 2023 as they’ve won two out of the six series, lost two and drew two.
During the time period, they also failed to defend their T20 World Cup Champions crown and were knocked out in the semi-final by India only. Hence, the Three Lions will be hungry for revenge in the upcoming rubber as they aim to start the Brendon McCullum era on a winning note.
IND vs ENG Head-to-Head Record
India have an upper hand over England in their T20I history, having won 13 out of the 24 matches played between the two teams. Moreover, they’ve also won the last four series played between the two teams and hence will start the series as favourites.
